Karl’s so lovely. This year for Christmas (among other things that I’ll post about later) he surprised me with a wacom tablet. I’ve used one of these beauties before, while I was in College, but school use is never as good as using something that doesn’t have the fingerprints of 100 students all over it. So,what’s a tablet you ask? It only allows you to draw, paint and sketch straight onto your computer by using the thin table-top tablet with a pen that virtually places your pen marks onto the screen. This = completely amazing! Check out the sketch that I spent less than two hours on yesterday:

Thanks to the wonderful RQ Magazine, I heard about a local craft sale in Kitchener. Little City Farm hosted ‘A little birdy told me craft sale’ full of one-of-a-kind, functional and handmade goodies. I headed over there this afternoon and picked something up – inspired by our new office window.
Sarah’s Kitchen Gardens was one of the vendors at the show. What caught my eye was her idea for an indoor sprout garden. I had to pick it up & put it together right away. It goes a little something like this:
You’ll have to check back for the rest of the process… but if you’re interested in hearing things from a pro, Sarah’s blog post on the process can be found here. In the mean time, I’m excited to have a sprout-a-licious salad.

UPDATE!!!!
This is 5 days worth of growth.. I’m not kidding you, it’s beautiful & tasty. I’ve been nibbling on the sprouts already, yum

This fantastic opportunity to listen to the experiences of making these films as well as ask questions will be held at The Museum in downtown Kitchener!

During one of my ‘productive’ moments, I stumbled upon this video: T-Shirt War.
Every tshirt in this video was designed and printed for each shot… clever, funny & interesting

You heard it here folks, CuteGecko‘s got it’s very own logo hanging in the ‘front hall’ of the office. Beautifully crafted at The Sign Depot, I would recommend these guys any day for creating this masterpiece on a miraculously short timeline. Our friend Lisa provided us with some teasers along the way:

This morning, some friendly guys came by for an installation and the results are incredibly exciting for us!

Here we are folks, all moved in a raring to go! The paint is dry, the furniture is in and work has begun to feel normal again. We’ve even got a window now.
As you can see, the immaculate blue goes with everything – including the retro orange and comfy couch. Our ‘board room table’ is looking for some rejuvenation but will fit in nicely once we’ve finished with it. My trusty little type-writer even has a place in the space so I can use it for whatever odds and ends I need to.
We are still waiting on a few things such as some CuteGecko made wallpaper for the backsplash of our ‘kitchen’, a new vinyl table-top and an amazing handmade sign from the Sign Depot.
The photos above might give you a taste of what we’re got going on in here but the best way to experience the new office is by visiting!! Send me an email and come on over

A while ago, I posted a story about a project I had been working on for the University of Waterloo’s Social Innovation Generation. The book I designed had just been printed and I was excited to get some of the photos online. Well now, we can do even better! SiG has created an online version of the book from the pdf’s that I provided. Check out their website or view the book here (click the image of the book to view it in full-screen mode):
