Our office has a Garden

Our office has a Garden

December 11, 2010  |  Home-Grown

Thanks to the wonderful RQ Magazine, I heard about a local craft sale in Kitchener. Little City Farm hosted ‘A little birdy told me craft sale’ full of one-of-a-kind, functional and handmade goodies.  I headed over there this afternoon and picked something up – inspired by our new office window.

Sarah’s Kitchen Gardens was one of the vendors at the show. What caught my eye was her idea for an indoor sprout garden.  I had to pick it up & put it together right away. It goes a little something like this:

Office Garden

Contact Sarah for one of THESE beauties

Office Garden

Take everything out, marvel at the cute handmade stamps

Office Garden

Cut the 'earth bag' about 4 inches from the bottom

Office Garden

Fold the edges of the bag down to make a nifty little tray

Office Garden

Fill the tray with Sarah's provided bags of soil and organic composted cattle manure

Office Garden

Choose from one of three seed batches (we chose broccoli) and spread it evenly on top of the soil

Office Garden

Sprinkle water on top and then cover with a bit of the remaining 'earth bag'

Office Garden

Not to forget the special gift with purchase!

You’ll have to check back for the rest of the process… but if you’re interested in hearing things from a pro, Sarah’s blog post on the process can be found here. In the mean time, I’m excited to have a sprout-a-licious salad.
